I have a soft spot for BBQs at churches. Especially those really old traditions where they’ve been using BBQ as a fund raiser since the Great Depression. Now it helps if the BBQ is good and often the lore is that they are. This of course is largely a lore as inconsistencies with who is responsible for what is often left to untrained volunteers.
So I curated four videos which showcase individual churches and their historical BBQ. Too bad they don’t have these in NY.
New Zion Missionary Baptist Church Barbeque – Huntsville, TX
St Ann’s Catholic Church – Morganfield, KY
Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church – Charlotte, NC
Smoking meat since 1929!!!!
First United Methodist – Dickson, TX
